Mr. Billy Shakespeare once wrote that “Some are born great, some achieve greatness, and some have greatness thrust upon them.” In many respects, Simon Dumont and his posse of homeboys proved last October 26th in Montreal that Shakespeare was “ motherf****** dope right.” Word.
The D-Structure and Plehouse crew give a big “ what up.”

Dumont and his crew, along with Liam Downey, Charles Gagnier, and Freedle Coty, convened at Bar Le Swimming for the Quebec premiere of Level 1 Productions’ “High Five.” Other notable attendees included Felix Rioux, along with his D-Structure employees and riders, Charles Boileau and others representing Plehouse Films, and finally, The Powder 11 family, whose “I Ride Twins” clothing line has swept the province by storm. All parties anticipated a first look at Josh Berman’s most recent creation, and no person left disappointed, or empty handed, for that matter. Whether it was a mere Liberty sticker pack, a Spy hat, a DNA jacket, or even a pair of Volkl skis courtesy of Bernard Trottier Sports, virtually every snow freak was rewarded with a beautiful parting gift. The loudest cheers of the evening were reserved for Charles Gagnier, notre p-tit gars de Quebec ( our “little guy” from Quebec), David Chrichton, and The Dumont, who held an impromptu autograph session on stage during his segment.
This guy won the skis, but never thanked us. You’re welcome.
The Dumont and friends. Freedle packs a heavy punch.
A prototypical article analyzing the comings and goings of a ski movie premiere should conclude at this stage with much bro speak and several sponsor shout outs. But midnight on a Tuesday evening in Montreal is no place to end this story. With The Dumont and friends desperately seeking, in no particular order, female attention and cigars, we took to the streets in search of an establishment willing to greet a dozen slightly inebriated riders and friends. However, we were slowed by a brief scuffle between a skier who shall remain nameless and some college kids. According to the anonymous skier, “ they were with some hot chicks, and they shouldn’t have been with the hot chicks, so I punched them.” Of course, the only watering hole eager to welcome the crew, now with Simon’s father in tow, was a refined and upscale gentlemen’s club. The rest of this tale will be left your imagination…
Grass Root Co-Operative would like to thank all those who supported the event, including Bernard Trottier Sports, DNA, Dalbello ski boots, Powder 11 clothing, Ballz Boardshop, Progression Ski Camps, Liberty Skis, and Orthodox Rails.
