SuperUnknown 23 kicks off in Canada

For the first time in its 23-year history, SuperUnknown just kicked off on international grounds. Thanks to Banff Sunshine Village, over sixty Pros and sixteen Finalists are hitting the SVV park in Alberta, Canada until April 24th.

Presented by Banff Sunshine Village, Giro, PUB Light, Turtlebox, and Monster Energy

SuperUnknown 23 brought in submissions from talented amateur skiers around the world—each with a completely unique take on the sport. From street to park to powder (and plenty blending all three), the diversity of styles makes this event what it is—but also makes judging incredibly challenging.

There’s no perfect formula for comparing one entry to the next. After countless hours reviewing submissions, consulting with athletes, media, and the Level 1 team, and rewatching entries more times than we can count, we’ve landed on a group of Semi-Finalists and Finalists that we stand firmly behind.

What’s next:
The Male and Female Winners will be determined by rider vote at the end of the week, with each winner taking home $2,500.

About SuperUnknown

Now in its 23rd year, SuperUnknown remains the original video talent search—and still the biggest and most influential of its kind. Since launching in 2004, it has helped introduce skiers like Tom Wallisch, Magnus Granér, Jonah Williams, and Skye Clarke to the global stage.

Created to offer an alternative path outside the traditional competition circuit, SuperUnknown has always been about giving talented skiers a platform—opening doors to exposure, sponsorship, and the opportunity to film with Level 1.

More than two decades later, the players may have changed—but the mission hasn’t. Each year, nearly 100 of the most promising amateur skiers from around the world submit their entries, all chasing the same goal: earning the coveted SuperUnknown title.
